Family Day Out at the Stables by from Red Letter Days
Horse riding is a perfect way to spend some quality time together as a family - it's relaxing, exciting, refreshingly outdoorsy and a brilliant way to introduce the kids to a new hobby. Parents can even get involved too! Novices and experienced riders alike will love this riding day. After being introduced to their ponies the instructor will teach the youngsters how to tack up before heading out for a half hour lesson within the grounds and an assessment of their abilities in order to best plan a follow up activity. Then the adults get their chance by leading their children on a walk and trot hack in countryside or woodland (cantering is not permitted outside the arenas during initial visits). The children have an hour and a half riding time, followed by soup and sandwiches for all of you - riding can be pretty physical and there's nothing like fresh air to make people hungry! At the end everyone has the opportunity to groom a horse and maybe even give it a treat to say thank you!
